Step 1: Vacuum
The Carpet and Rug Institute recommends you vacuum high traffic areas daily or at a minimum three times per week.
You certainly want to choose a vacuum that meets all the demands of your environment, with the ability to address pet hair, high traffic, or other environmental factors.
Step 2: Immediately clean spills
When spills are immediately addressed, they typically do not do much damage to your carpets. When dirt or spills remain exposed to your carpet however, it can cause permanent staining or cause bending of the carpet fibers.
When fibers of your carpet bend, it can cause the carpet to appear dirty, or grimy; due to the poor reflection of the light. Immediately addressing spills, or keeping dirt from sitting too long on the carpet will keep your carpets looking smooth and fresh.

All carpet cleaners and carpet cleaning companies are all the same. I might just as well hire the company that quotes the lowest price. Usually not. Some carpet cleaning companies offer a low price to persuade you to call, but then add on services you thought were included in the price. You may have received a coupon in a Val Pak or via direct mail, advertising $6.95 per room! What a great deal, huh? How can they afford to charge such a low price? As a reputable business owner who has been serving this area, I can tell you with all certainty, THEY CAN’T! The gas alone, to get to your home would make this a losing proposition for the ‘company’. Then there are cleaning agents, set up and tear downtime, and the actual job labor—a firm charging $6 or $9 a room would soon go broke.
How/why are they charging this price? The answer is simple—Bait & Switch! Here is a typical scenario: Once inside your home, you are informed that the advertised price is for ‘basic steam cleaning’–in other words, clear water. Take it from me; you cannot properly clean even a lightly soiled carpet without proper cleaning agents, such as pre-conditioner, emulsifier & various spot cleaners.
